Burscough Priory Science College is committed to providing a curriculum experience for every student that enables progress in their learning and to achieve high academic standards. Our balanced curriculum is designed to challenge, motivate and prepare students for the next steps in their education. Students will develop the knowledge, skills and qualities to enable them to become effective lifelong learners.
Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9)
In Years 7, 8 and 9, students study a range of subjects to help develop the skills and knowledge needed for further learning at Key Stage 4, with particular attention to numeracy and literacy.
Further information on how the curriculum is balanced can be accessed on our Key Stage 3 information page.
When in Year 9, students will start to consider the subjects they want to study at GCSE level. A booklet detailing the courses we offer can be accessed by downloading it here.
Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11)
In Years 10 & 11, the curriculum is personalised for every student by allowing pupils to select ‘option’ subjects alongside the statutory curriculum. Pupils are encouraged to include a Modern Foreign Language and a Humanity subject in their portfolio of KS4 subjects.
Further information on our Key Stage 4 curriculum can be accessed on our Key Stage 4 information page.
