Welcome to the ICT Department at Burscough Priory Science College. In September 2008 the ICT Department moved into newly refurbished accommodation and now students can enjoy the very best facilities for ICT. The accommodation includes two fully equipped specialist ICT suites with full class facilities for printing and scanning. The existing Library was also refurbished into a Learning Resource Centre with additional ICT facilities.
Our department is focused on delivering the core ICT curriculum and Functional Skills ICT to each year group throughout the school and delivering a selected GCSE option in Years 10 and 11.
In Key Stage 3, Years 7 and 8 are taught in all ability form groups and Year 9 is taught in groups set by ability. In Key Stage 3, Years 7 and 8 have three lessons per fortnight while Year 9 has two lessons per fortnight. The Schemes of Work for Years 7 - 9 are individual schemes of work based on the ICT National Curriculum and the National Framework for Teaching ICT.
In Key Stage 4, Years 10 and 11 GCSE ICT receive five one hour lessons per fortnight and Years 10 and 11 Functional Skills receive a one hour lesson per week. The Schemes of Work for Years 10 and 11 are based on the AQA Functional Skills Specification and the Edexcel GCSE ICT syllabus.
