ICT and Learning Resource Centre Redevelopment - Summer 2008
The ICT Department moved in to newly refurbished accomodation in September 2008. Proposals to redevelop the first floor of the main building, where the Library, SEN and Geography departments where based began as early as Autumn 2006. The Library itself had been largely untouched since the school's original construction towards the end of the 1950s and the ICT Department's then accomodation on the first floor of the ROSLA building was unsuitable.
The plans to redevelop the Library in to a Learning Resource Centre and the surrounding classrooms into purpose-refurbished ICT suites also led to several other departments moving accomodation in the process, notably the History department, who now occupy the old ICT Rooms on the first floor of the ROSLA building. The Careers Centre, formely occupying a room of its own, also moved to the far corner of the new Learning Resource Centre.
The work started in May 2008, almost 2 years after the original suggestion was proposed and after many months of planning and preparation. The result was a very contemporary, pleasant learning environment for the ICT Department and a much nicer, larger Library, renamed to a Learning Resource Centre.
The furniture in all rooms was made-to-order by Little Dreams, based in Stoke-on-Trent.
