The accommodation includes two fully equipped specialist music teaching rooms, one with a class set of Roland keyboards and computers with a wide range of music software and the other, with sufficient individual Yamaha keyboards for classes to utilise. Other equipment available for classroom use includes, electric guitars, amplifiers, drum kits, drum pads, microphones, CD and MP3 recording facilities. There is a wide range of percussion instruments and teaching areas have interactive white-boards.
Specialist rehearsal facilities include a 24 track Recording studio, Rock and Singing studios and a Drama/Dance studio with a theatre lighting rig and a recently installed sound system. There is the opportunity for pupils to be involved in a wide range of Performing Arts based extracurricular opportunities.
The college employs a team of highly qualified Music staff who offer high quality tuition on a wide range of instruments and the voice. Pupils are encouraged to, and have the opportunity to perform at many events during the school year, including lunch time and after school concerts.
Currently the school runs three very popular Street Dance classes with a visiting teacher from L.I.P.A. – the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
Lower school pupils are allocated one hour of a National Curriculum based Music course every week and also have one hour of Drama every other week. Department options at KS4 are popular and include the opportunity to follow the OCR G.C.S.E. Music course and the AQA G.C.S.E. Performing Arts course.
