Brian Stone Headteacher: January 1958 - July 1984 Brian Stone was the first Headteacher when the school, then called Burscough County Secondary School was opened in January 1958. He had a staff of 10 teachers and the total number of pupils on roll was 222. |

Eric Cole
Acting Headteacher: July 1984 - January 1985 Eric Cole took up acting headteacher role for the Autumn term of 1985 before the appointment of Roger Leighton.

Roger Leighton
Headteacher: January 1985 - August 2009 Roger Leighton became the second headteacher at Burscough Priory High School in January 1985. During this time the School has continually developed culminating in it being awarded Specialist Status in Science in June 2004. In September 2004 the School name was changed to Burscough Priory Science College, to reflect this new status and this change coincided with the handover of the new science and performing arts building now called the "Brian Stone Centre". Upon retirement in 2009, Roger had a total of 92 staff members made up of 46 teachers, 18 teaching assistants, 6 office staff, 5 technicians, 9 kitchen staff, 6 welfare assistants and 2 site supervisors.

Douglas Bruce
Headteacher: September 2009 to May 2011 Doug Bruce, a former Deputy Headteacher at Priory from 1992 to 1998, returned to the School in September 2009 in the capacity of Headteacher. Doug joined us from Lathom High School where he had been Headteacher for six years. Upon taking the Headship at Lathom High the School had just been placed into Serious Weaknesses by Ofsted but under Doug's leadership the school became recognised as the seventh most improved school in the country for its examination performance. |
