Facilities
The school boasts excellent and vast playing fields. During 2005, the school fields had a full new drainage system and are now in excellent condition. The fields allow us to have 3 football pitches and a rugby pitch. In the Summer the athletics track and various rounders pitches are used.
Priory has 4 tennis/netball courts which have recently been re-surfaced in October 2007.

Duke Of Edinburgh Awards Scheme We have an active Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme running at Burscough Priory Science College with 28 pupils currently taking part. The pupils have to undertake various activites in order to gain the award. They have to help out at a local Primary school for 3 months either running sports sessions, or by helping out at an after school activity. They also have to learn a new skill and learn campcraft and map reading skills. This then finishes with a practice expedition around the Burscough area and a final expedition which usually takes place around Longridge fell.

Awards The Physical Education Department runs alongside the rest of the school in awarding merits for good work in PE. We also select pupils in various areas who are sent postcards to recognise achievements such as improvement, effort, ability etc. These are used across both key stages. These pupils efforts are then displayed along the PE corridor. |

The school gymnasium allows for competitive basketball matches to be played and also for a significant amount of the physical education curriculum to be taught. This is the department’s main indoor facility, though we do also have use of the school hall and also the dance/drama studio for both dance and aerobics activities.
