Dear Parents and Carers
I am delighted to welcome you to Burscough Priory Science College and am privileged to be the Headteacher of this vibrant centre of learning. Our prospectus can only give you a flavour of the values and beliefs that we hold as a community and I hope that it will inspire you to come into school to find out more about us. As a school we value all of our stakeholders highly and we seek to work in partnership with you to continue to move our school towards being outstanding in all areas.
I am passionate about education and believe that all young people should be inspired to develop their talents and skills; to be challenged to strive to be the best they can be, but above all develop a thirst for learning that will stay with them throughout their lives. No matter what the twists and turns of national policy are, we must maintain our focus on offering a curriculum that prepares students for future careers, alongside using their talent and energy to develop fully and contribute to the global community. We have been commended for the way we embrace diversity and forge positive links with the community.
At Priory the highest standards of student care, conduct and safety are prized and rewarded. We listen to and empower our young people to have a central role in leadership at all levels. Our students are closely involved in: staff recruitment; governors meetings: staff inset; helping to set priorities for enhancing their school and acting as buddies for younger students to help them quickly settle into our school family. We believe that the best schools are underpinned by the strongest foundations of discipline, pride in oneself and community as well as a focus on ensuring the basics such as; respect, tolerance, compassion, literacy, numeracy, personal learning outside school hours and knowing the difference between right and wrong. I give you my absolute assurance that these values will continue to underpin everything we do at Priory on a daily basis.
