On Tuesday
July 14th 2008,
pupils past and present from Burscough
Priory came together
to present a Gala Concert
for Mr Leighton,
to celebrate
his twenty four years as
head teacher.
The concert
was a sell out and the
audience was entertained by
performances of the very
highest standard. Several
past pupils surprised Mr
Leighton by their attendance
and, in particular, we were
thrilled to welcome Dean
Chisnall back to the Priory
stage. Currently, Dean is
rehearsing for a role in ‘La
Cage Aux Folles’ before he
joins the cast of Andrew
Lloyd Weber’s sequel to
Phantom of the Opera. His
performances were just
incredible and everyone
couldn’t help but feel a
sense of pride in his
achievements. Other past
pupils who performed on the
evening were Heather Allen
who travelled up from London
to sing, Philip Clieve who
will shortly begin his
studies at the Royal
Northern College of Music,
David Massam, Rebecca
Jennings, Kerry McNabb and
David Croft, who thrilled
the audience with his
amazing break dancing
Joining our
past pupils on stage were a
range of performances from
our current pupils. Every
single performance was given
with such professionalism
that I’m sure that Mr
Leighton was given a night
to remember. Special mention
should be made of the
members of ‘A Class Act’.
Mrs Cain, who works in the
school office, was in one of
Mr Leighton’s very first
classes at Glenburn School
and she contacted several
members of her "class of
1970" to join her on stage
for a special appearance.
Dressed in their school
uniforms, they certainly
entertained the audience!
Thank you to
all staff and pupils who
contributed to this a
memorable evening but our
biggest thanks must go to Mr
Leighton for his twenty four
years of dedication to the
well being of all at
Burscough Priory.
