The summer of 2006 brought a
bumper crop of GCSE passes
for pupils at Burscough
Priory Science College. We
are pleased to report that
two candidates have achieved
marks that put them in the
top 5 pupils Nationally in
their subjects.
Katie Sumner achieved 4 A *
grades and 5 grade A's
overall. The A * she
achieved in History has been
certified by AQA as one of
the top 5 marks in the paper
this year.
Incredibly, Katherine
Reynolds (4A*'s, 5 A's and a
B grade) also achieved a top
5 mark in the History
examination. In addition,
Katherine also attained a
top five mark in French. The
achievement was applauded by
the chief executive of AQA
as this placed Katherine in
the top 5 of a group of
nearly 11,500 who sat this
examination last summer.
We also heard that Gemma
Wilkins, who achieved the
accolade of a top 5 mark in
French at GCSE 2 years ago
whilst a student at Priory,
will be going to Oxford in
October to study Modern
Languages. We congratulate
Gemma and wish Katherine
every success with her
further study of languages.
Burscough Priory is a
Specialist School for
science. GCSE science
results this year were
outstanding with 73% pupils
obtaining grades A* - C in
dual award science. We are
proud of our status and
achievement in science but
Katherine and Katie
demonstrate the excellent
standards of achievement and
opportunities provided
across the whole curriculum
at Burscough Priory Science
College.
